Report: Aaron Rodgers ‘frustrated’ with the Packers

Earlier in the offseason his Green Bay Packers released longtime teammate Jordy Nelson, only to replace the wide receiver with former Pro Bowl tight end Jimmy Graham.

Following these moves, Rodgers seemingly toed the company line publicly. In no way does this mean that the future Hall of Fame quarterback is happy with his role in the organization.

According to Yahoo! Sports NFL insider Charles Robinson, Rodgers thinks “he has earned a voice (within the organization) by now.”

Robinson then detailed Rodgers’ discontent.

“Specifically, the sources said Rodgers has lingering discontent being completely cut out of discussions that resulted in the departures of wideout Jordy Nelson and quarterbacks coach Alex Van Pelt,” Robinson said. “And it apparently is entering his thought process when it comes to his next contract extension.”

A source close to the situation then noted that the frustration is “going to keep coming out.”

Remember, it was reported back in March that Rodgers and the Packers were close to an extension. It remains to be seen just how much this spat might hold up said extension.

Already vastly underpaid, Rodgers is set to earn less than $40 million in base salary over the next two seasons. That could also be playing a role in his issues with the organization.

This is definitely something to keep an eye on. Any perception of discontent between a franchise quarterback and his organization can’t be seen as a good thing.
