John Harbaugh: Ravens ‘got a steal’ landing Robert Griffin III

Robert Griffin III

In jaw-dropping news this Wednesday, the Baltimore Ravens signed quarterback Robert Griffin III. Obviously, this news caused quite the eruption throughout social media. And it should have, considering Griffin has not played since the 2016 season.

The Ravens are darn pleased with their new backup to quarterback Joe Flacco, however. Head coach John Harbaugh had this share about the Ravens’ newest teammate.

“I feel like we got a steal, Harbaugh said, per Ravens beat writer, Shawn Stepner. I felt like he really wanted to be here, be a Raven.”

Even though this signing seems like it came out of left field, Griffin admitted last year that he turned down an offer from the Ravens, as well as the Arizona Cardinals, due to the timing not being quite right.

Griffin last suited up for the Cleveland Browns in 2016, when he played in just five games. Prior to that, he remained sidelined throughout the entire 2015 season which was his final one with the Washington Redskins.

Despite being out of the game for over a year, the Ravens must have liked what they saw after claiming RGIII “had a real good workout.”

Though taking somewhat of a cautious approach, the Ravens signed Griffin to just a one-year deal.
