Giancarlo Stanton hits new low point, gets booed in Yankee Stadium debut

Giancarlo Stanton

Giancarlo Stanton had a fantastic debut with the New York Yankees on the road. His first home game at Yankee Stadium did not go nearly as well.

Stanton struggled mightily in New York’s home opener. He went 0-for-5 with five strikeouts. The strikeouts set an unfortunate career high for the reigning NL MVP.

The good news for Stanton and the Yankees is that the Ks were overcome. Despite Stanton’s struggles, New York routed the Tampa Bay Rays 11-4.

Stanton is now hitting only .211 on the season. Still, his OBP is a far more respectable .348 and his slugging is at a better than respectable .642. Stanton has two home runs, and after Tuesday has nine strikeouts in 19 at-bats.
