Angels pitcher Shohei Ohtani

Los Angeles Angels rookie superstar Shohei Ohtani will not have to miss his scheduled start on Tuesday after all, the team announced on Sunday.

The blister that caused Ohtani to be pulled early in his last start has healed up enough to allow Ohtani to pitch, which is certainly great news for the Halos. He underwent what manager Mike Scioscia described as a “full gorilla” bullpen session on Sunday, and apparently came out of it unscathed.

Previously, Scioscia had said, “He’s feeling much better so we’re encouraged,” per the Associated Press.

Whether he’s been on the mound or at the plate, Ohtani has been a tremendous positive force for Los Angeles. He’s 2-1 as a starting pitcher with an ERA of 3.60 and WHIP of 0.80 with 19 strikeouts in 15 innings of work.
