Report: Redskins to sign WR Paul Richardson

Paul Richardson

The Washington Redskins will reportedly add a battery mate for the recently acquired Alex Smith. According to Adam Caplan of SiriusXM Radio, Washington will sign soon-to-be former Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Paul Richardson later this week.

This couldn’t possibly be a better fit for both Richardson and the Redskins. The 25-year-old speedster is coming of the best season of an otherwise unassuming career. He caught 44 passes for 703 yards and six touchdowns in Seattle during the 2017 campaign.

After losing both Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson in free agency last March, Washington struggled big time at wide receiver this past season. Now, with Smith replacing new Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins under center, the idea here is to get him some more help.

Richardson will be seen as a starter in D.C. with the squad also likely looking wide receiver early in next month’s NFL Draft.
