Report: Mike Pouncey requests release, Dolphins expected to grant it

The Miami Dolphins are apparently not going in the direction that starting center Mike Pouncey appreciates. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the center has request his release, and the Dolphins are expected to grant it to him.

Pouncey is a three-time Pro Bowler who has started 93 games for Miami since being selected No. 15 overall out of Florida in the 2011 NFL Draft. He started all 16 games for Miami last year, which was significant given his hip injury in 2016.

He was set to earn just under $8 million in base salary for the 2018 NFL season. He wants his release because he says the Dolphins aren’t interested in doing a long-term deal, and he knows his career isn’t over.

If Pouncey does hit the open market, likely he’ll receive plenty of interest and will be in line to make some serious money.
