Report: Giants trying to sign OT Nate Solder after missing on Andrew Norwell

The New York Giants were one of the teams supposedly hot on the trail of top offensive guard Andrew Norwell, who ultimately signed a huge deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Having missed out on that prize, general manager Dave Gettleman is setting his sights on left tackle Nate Solder, per Albert Breer of The MMQB.

The New England Patriots would love to have Solder back, but they know he’s going to come at a high price. Reports last month indicated Bill Belichick and Co. knew they might have to move on without him, as he’s likely to receive a hefty offer and isn’t interested in taking a discount.

Solder has been a full-time starter for New England since being selected No. 17 overall in the 2011 NFL Draft out of Colorado. He’s one of the better left tackles in the NFL and would be a huge upgrade for Big Blue, which has lacked elite talent on the edge for years.
