Fresh off news that he has been released by the Green Bay Packers, Pro Bowl wide receiver Jordy Nelson is acting pretty quickly in free agency. According to Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Nelson will visit with the Oakland Raiders on Wednesday.

The connections are pretty strong here. Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie was part of the Packers’ front office that selected Nelson in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft. New Raiders wide receivers coach Edgar Bennett has been a member of Green Bay’s coaching staff since 2005. He served as Nelson’s wide receivers coach from 2011-14 before ultimately taking over as offensive coordinator in 2015.
If the Raiders were to be able to land Nelson, it would likely mean the end of the line for Michael Crabtree in Oakland. He has reportedly been on the chopping block and could be released prior to the start of free agency on Wednesday.
In addition to Oakland, the New England Patriots, Baltimore Ravens, Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers are said to be interested in Nelson. It wouldn’t be a shock if he were to meet with San Francisco while in the Bay Area.
