Jim Kelly announces oral cancer has returned

Former Buffalo Bills quarterback Jim Kelly made a stunning announcement Thursday morning, that cancer had returned to his body after more than three years of remission.

The Hall of Famer released a statement through the Bills, asking for prayers and admitting he was “shocked and disappointed to receive this news.”

Kelly was first diagnosed with oral cancer back in June of 2013 and underwent surgery, after which he announced the treatment had removed all cancerous cells. Then by March of 2014, the cancer had returned. After radiation and chemotherapy treatment, he was once again cancer free in August of 2014, only to find out in November that he had MSRA in his bones. A few short weeks later, Kelly announced he was MRSA-free.

Once again, Kelly and his family will be in our thoughts and prayers as he fights this disease.
