Cowboys reportedly set to release CB Orlando Scandrick

The Dallas Cowboys will soon be moving on from their second-longest tenured player. Days after he requested a release from the team, Dallas will indeed send cornerback Orlando Scandrick to free agency on Monday.

Scandrick, 31, has played each of the past 10 seasons with the Cowboys. During that span, he’s recorded 399 tackles, 64 passes defended, eight interceptions and seven forced fumbles. For the most part, the veteran has played the role of Dallas’ best corner during his stint with the team.

After adding corners Chidobe Awuzie and Jourdan Lewis in last year’s draft, it became readily apparent that Dallas was looking to get younger at corner. By moving on from Scandrick, that’s now taken to a whole new level. The Cowboys will save a mere $1.5 million against the cap by releasing him.
