Tarik Cohen embraces Tyreek Hill comparisons

Chicago Bears running back Tarik Cohen

As a rookie, Chicago Bears running back Tarik Cohen showed off some amazing skills. He should only get better now that he’s in the same system that helped Tyreek Hill thrive in Kansas City last year.

When the Bears hired Matt Nagy away from Kansas City, we immediately compared Cohen to Hill and noted he can have a similar type of impact for Chicago in this new system.

Of course, we aren’t the only ones who see similarities between the two players. Speaking about this topic in an appearance with WSCR-670 AM, via the Chicago Tribune, Cohen is embracing the comparisons.

“When I was at the combine, coaches would always ask me who I would compare myself to in the league,” Cohen said. “And I would always tell them Tyreek Hill. I feel that I can do the same kinds of things he does in the Kansas City offense. … And now since we have their coach now I feel like I have to live up to that. And I definitely look forward to being the same kind of playmaker.”

Though the two players technically play two separate positions, Nagy and his staff would be smart to use Cohen in similar ways to how Hill was utilized in Kansas City. He has elite quickness and speed, and once he get into the open field his agility is peerless — hence the moniker of “human joystick.”

As a rookie playing for the unimaginative John Fox, Cohen racked up 723 yards and three touchdowns. He caught 53 balls and should be a very big part of what Chicago does in the passing game going forward.

We cannot wait to see how Nagy and his staff creatively uses this young player, who has superstar potential.
