Report: Former Colts Pro Bowl CB Vontae Davis to visit the Bills

With the start of free agency and the new league year still weeks away, the Buffalo Bills aren’t sitting idly by in an attempt to upgrade their roster.

Fresh off the team’s first playoff appearance since 1999, things seem to be on the uptick for Buffalo. So why not attempt to cash in on that by luring free agents that can sign right now? This is exactly what the Bills plan on doing.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Buffalo will be the first team free agent cornerback Vontae Davis visits during the offseason.

The Indianapolis Colts released Davis this past November after he decided to undergo surgery on an injured groin. It was a point of contention between the two sides, ultimately leading to Davis’ demise in Indy after two seasons.

Still only 29 years old, Davis seemingly has a lot left in the tank. He earned back-to-back Pro Bowl appearances in 2014 and 2015 while playing at a high level in 2016.

A former first-round pick of the Dolphins, Davis should draw some nice interest on the open market. Whether he opts to sign with Buffalo or the team even offers him a deal remains to be seen. But it’s nice to see a usually quiet Bills front office active in a proactive manner this early in the offseason.
