Ohio State announces huge raises for assistant football coaches

The Ohio State football program has taken a significant step toward making its assistant coaches happy, announcing huge raises in salary on Wednesday.

And when we say huge, it’s not hyperbole.

Most notably, defensive coordinator Greg Schiano (rumored to be leaving for New England) had his salary more than double, while offensive coordinator Ryan Day got the same treatment.

These raises mean all 10 of the team’s assistant coaches are expected to rank among the top-three at their position in the Big Ten during the 2018 season, per nbc4i.com.

This is an interesting turn of events for athletic director Gene Smith, who recently had some pretty strong things to say about Jimbo Fisher’s huge contract at Texas A&M.
