Larry Fitzgerald’s dad says son will only play for the Cardinals in 2018

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald has yet to commit to playing another season in the NFL. But should he decide he wants to play in 2018, it would only be for the Cardinals.

Larry Fitzgerald Sr. weighed in on his son’s future in the league, per SiriusXM NFL Radio.

If Fitz does decide he wants to return, he at least has the support of his new head coach, Steve Wilks. Wilks said that Fitzgerald is a large part of the team’s success, “past, present and future.”

The dilemma that remains is Fitzgerald wants and deserves to retire as a Super Bowl champion. Though, that door is slowly closing depending on who the Cardinals wind up signing as their starting quarterback.

The best option out there now is Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins to sign elsewhere now that Alex Smith is on the roster.

The team’s quarterback situation surely stands to impact Fitzgerald’s final decision. As it stands, Fitzgerald is the all-time leading receiver for the Cardinals with 1,234 receptions, 15,545 yards and 110 touchdowns on record.
