Johnny Manziel provides uplifting message to those fighting bipolar disorder

Johnny Manziel

Johnny Manziel recently revealed that he suffers from bipolar disorder. Speaking to TMZ Sports, the former Heisman Trophy winning and Cleveland Browns quarterback elaborated on what that felt like.

He also offered some words of encouragement for other people fighting a similar battle.

“Sometimes days don’t look as great as the other. Sometimes you feel like you’ll never get out of the rut,” Manziel said. “But at the end of the day, I’m a person who felt like the end of the world was near and that I would never make it out. And to be where I’m at today, and see hope, see a light, at the end of any tunnel. I feel blessed to be able to have fought through the bad times to be where I’m at. So no matter what, what I’d say is as dark as it gets, eventually times will get better.”

Manziel is currently in the midst of a return to football. Whether that happens in the NFL, another league, or not at all, he seems to be in a much better place in his life. It’s worth remembering that two years ago, there was genuine doubt that Manziel would even live to see 2017, let alone 2018.

So, regardless of what happens in his comeback attempt, Manziel has made a lot of progress. He’s also provided a good example to others fighting similar battles.
