76ers GM: Markelle Fultz might not play this year

Markelle Fultz

Markelle Fultz continues to working back in hopes of returning from a shoulder injury, but the Philadelphia 76ers aren’t expecting him anytime soon and might not be at all.

According to Keith Pompey of the Philly Inquirer, general manager Bryan Colangelo said “there’s a chance” Fultz will not play this season.

Derek Bodner of The Athletic adds Colangelo said Fultz’s shooting range is currently “within the paint.” Colangelo also walked away from the 22-minute press conference when asked if there’s a timeline on the next update for Fultz, per Bodner.

For every encouraging update, it seems there are two negative reports. The NBA world has anxiously waited for news that the Washington product is finally healthy, but that simply doesn’t seem likely to come during the 2017-18 campaign anymore.

Philadelphia is no stranger to prized draft picks being unavailable for a year, and Fultz has appeared in only four games this season.
