Warriors’ Draymond Green fined $25,000 for criticizing officials

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green continues to be among the most controversial figures in the NBA world. And that’s not changing any time soon.

Days after criticizing pretty much every NBA official in the league, the Association has fined Green $25,000.

Here are Green’s comments that brought on the rather extensive fine.

“It’s bad. It’s horrible. It’s really bad. I don’t know why it is. But I think it’s ridiculous,” Green said over the weekend in an interview with The Athletic. “It’s ruining the game. It should be one of, if not the main priority, to be solved. It definitely should.”

Green want on to conclude that the league should simply move on to a new crop of officials.

“They can get a new crop (of referees), a whole new crop,” Green said. “Too many personal things going on. Too much me against you. It just don’t work that way.”

To be clear here, Green leads the NBA with 11 technical fouls this season. He’s frustrated. But he’s also his own own worst enemy. The same passion that helps his Warriors on the court has placed a huge target on him when it comes to officials. And his own on-court actions aren’t helping matters here.

Green will take the $25,000 fine. It’s not going to break the bank for him. But he needs to keep his emotions in check on the court as a way to avoid letting his team down again after what we saw two seasons ago.
