Report: Le’Veon Bell missed most of walk-through before Jags game

Le’Veon Bell is preparing for a contract stalemate with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the team will be using every argument it can to reduce the bill. Bell basically skipping practice will be at the top of the list.

According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Bell “missed practically the entire Saturday walk-through” the day before the Steelers lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the Divisional Round.

Then, on game day, Bell — and an unnamed coach — arrived to the locker room after the two-hour mark before which Mike Tomlin requests the team to report.

As Bouchette notes, part of the blame falls on Tomlin, who “could have taken better control” of the situation.

Perhaps it’s much ado about nothing, since the absences didn’t seem to affect Bell’s performance. He tallied 155 total yards and two touchdowns on 25 offensive touches. Still, it’s not a great reflection on Bell (or the coach) heading into an important offseason for him and the Steelers.
