Pat Shurmur sends not-so-subtle message to Odell Beckham Jr.

Odell Beckham Jr. is one of many NFL players who has a lot to prove in a contract year

New York Giants head coach Pat Shurmur addressed the press after being officially hired by the team. Among the many topics he covered was his expectations from wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

He explained that OBJ will be given a “clean slate.” But at the same time, Shurmur said he won’t tolerate certain behaviors. In other words, Shurmur plans to exercise a “zero tolerance” policy.

“I have zero tolerance for people who don’t compete, zero tolerance for people who don’t give effort, and zero tolerance for people who have a lack of respect,” Shurmur said, per Steve Politi of nj.com.”

Shurmur also said this in regards to OBJ.

“I need to talk to him about what we’re looking for from a guy who plays on the New York Giants.”

Anyone who has watched Beckham in action before knows the receiver’s antics easily get out of hand at times. He has had his share of poor behavior on the field, including brawls, temper tantrums and that infamous dog-urinating touchdown celebration.

Clearly, acts such as this will not take place on Shurmur’s watch without consequences.

OBJ will be looking to make a return to the field after suffering a season-ending ankle injury in Week 4.
