New York paper posts funny headline honoring Chipper Jones

Longtime Atlanta Braves star Chipper Jones was voted into baseball’s Hall of Fame on Wednesday. On Thursday, the New York Daily News honored Jones (who spent much of his career torturing the New York Mets) in a creative way.

Just solid all around. New York fans were known for chanting Chipper’s actual given name of “Larry” at him throughout his career. And indeed, “19 years of Met killing” is an apt description of Jones’ career. His 49 home runs against the Mets are tied with the Philadelphia Phillies for the most against any one opponent.

He backed that up with a .309/406/.543 slash line, despite taking most of his at-bats in the pitcher friendly parks of Turner Field, Shea Stadium and Citi Field.
