Jerry Jones: Jason Garrett is not on the hot seat

Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett

It is that time of the NFL season that many teams are making huge overhauls in their coaching staffs.

The Dallas Cowboys slipped down the ranks this past season, which has led to questions about head coach Jason Garrett’s job security. Jerry Jones has already made it crystal clear after the season that Garrett wasn’t going to be fired.

Now, Jones is putting any rumors about Garrett being on the hot seat to rest.

“He’s not on my hot seat,” Jones said, via Nick Eatman of the team’s official website.”

Jones also reminded folks that Garrett was NFL Coach of the Year in 2016. He also said he hopes that can happen again in 2018.

The Cowboys hit some bumps in the road in 2017. Quarterback Dak Prescott came back to reality after his stellar 2016 rookie season. It also did not help that the Cowboys lost running back Ezekiel Elliott to a six-game suspension just as the playoff race was heating up.

The Cowboys did not have a horrible season, finishing second in the NFC East with a 9-7 record. Unfortunately, it was more of a let-down year after the team won the NFC East with a 13-3 record the season before.

But, that is all history. All that Garrett and the Cowboys can do is proceed to better themselves across the board in 2018.
