Drew Bledsoe jokes he could replace Tom Brady if need be

In the event New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady experiences a setback with his hand injury, former quarterback Drew Bledsoe has volunteered to step in.

Just toss him a Julian Edelman jersey and Bledsoe will be good to go.

This of course will not be happening. Brady is expected to play against the Jacksonville Jaguars despite the hand injury he is dealing with.

Brian Hoyer will serve as Brady’s primary backup during Sunday’s conference title game. Though, it is admirable that Bledsoe wouldn’t want to see his former team in a pinch should Brady need to be replaced.

Bledsoe last played for New England in 2001 after losing his job to Brady, so this is a pretty funny quip. He will be on hand at this week’s game to serve as an honorary team captain, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

If anything further develops involving Brady’s injury, we will cover it here.
