After being cleared for back-to-back, Joel Embiid won’t play Monday

Those waiting for Joel Embiid to play the second half of a back-to-back will have to wait a bit longer. The Philadelphia 76ers center was cleared to play Monday, which was the first time in his NBA career this had happened on the second game of a back-to-back.

He expressed excitement about the possibility of playing Monday evening against the Milwaukee Bucks.

“I JUST GOT TOLD I WAS AVAILABLE. …MY BODY HAS BEEN FEELING REALLY GOOD. … HOPEFULLY, I WILL PLAY.”

Unfortunately for Embiid and those hoping to watch him play against Giannis Antetokounmpo, he’s been ruled out of Monday’s contest.

Sunday evening’s game against Oklahoma City was pretty darn entertaining. Embiid absolutely posterized Russell Westbrook and then stared him down afterward. He ended up having an outstanding game in defeat, going for 27 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks in the game.

However, it appears the Sixers are still not ready to tempt fate. Embiid did play 36 minutes Sunday night, and now he’ll have an extra day to rest up before Philly heads to Brooklyn Wednesday for a road game against the Nets.
