Blake Griffin not expected to play Tuesday vs. Cavs

The Detroit Pistons and their fans are eager to see Blake Griffin suit up, but they’ll need to have a little bit of patience before the former Los Angeles Clippers star is available.

Ron Beard of the Detroit News reported Griffin, along with Brice Johnson and Willie Reed, will not play Tuesday against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Monday, the Pistons acquired the trio in exchange for Tobias Harris, Avery Bradley, Boban Marjanovic and a pair of draft picks.

Being ready for a game within 24 hours would be a rapid turnaround, though. Griffin and Co. must learn Detroit’s system and terminology prior to joining their new teammates.

They’ll be ready soon enough, but the Pistons will have a thin rotation when hosting the Cavs. Andre Drummond, Anthony Tolliver, Reggie Bullock, Stanley Johnson, Luke Kennard, Ish Smith, Dwight Buycks and Eric Moreland will log heavy minutes.

Griffin will likely make his debut later this week and attempt to help the Pistons snap their recent losing skid.
