Austin Sefarian-Jenkins shares inspirational message on one-year anniversary of sobriety

Saturday, January 20, 2018. It’s a special day in the life of New York Jets tight end Austin Sefarian-Jenkins, who now has one year of clean and sober living under his belt. As he celebrated this wonderful milestone, Seferian-Jenkins shared a tremendous message on his Instagram account.

Following a DUI arrest in September of 2016, Sefarian-Jenkins made the life-altering decision to seek sobriety.

Back in May, he reflected on his new life in an interview with ESPN, saying, “Even since I stopped drinking, it’s been a transformation. It really has changed my life. I just try to win one day at a time. I’ve won 129 days and I’m going to continue to win however many more days. It’s been a blessing.”

He’s now won, one day at a time, for 365 straight days.

Sefarian-Jenkins’ choice has helped him succeed, both on and off the field. This past season, he had his most productive campaign as a professional, catching 50 passes for 357 yards and three touchdowns. Now set to be a free agent ahead of the 2018 season unless the Jets offer him a contract, the 25-year-old has a chance to continue his upward swing with most of his youth still intact.
