After finishing up his junior season as the starting center for the Arkansas Razorbacks, Zach Rogers has decided to call and end to his football career. The former three-star recruit out of Hebron in Carrollton, Texas has decided to pursue a career in law enforcement instead.
Rogers’ father, Randy Rogers, broke the news on Friday that his son has already interviewed for positions within two agencies in Washington County, per Bob Holt of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
The young man has already graduated with a degree in criminal justice this past December. He also got married to his girlfriend Kathryn, and he has the next phase of his life on his mind at this point.
“I was just at that point in my life,” Rogers said. “I got married last May. I decided that it was just time for me to move on and take the next step in my life.”
Had Rogers decided to remain in school to play football another year, there’s a good chance he would have been able to retain the starting job he landed when Frank Ragnow went down with an injury this past year. His absence means the already inexperienced offensive line of the Razorbacks will have to grow up fast in 2018 under new head coach Chad Morris.
