WATCH: Did the Texans let Tom Savage play with a concussion?

The Houston Texans might ultimately have larger concerns than the outcome of their game against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

In the first half of their game against San Francisco, starting quarterback Tom Savage was driven into the ground by Elvis Dumervil.

At that point, it seemed pretty darn obvious that the signal caller suffered a concussion. In fact, there were unnatural movements when it came to Savage’s limbs.

Despite this, Houston allowed Savage to take the field for the team’s next drive. After that, the team then decided to remove Savage from the game in favor of T.J. Yates.

This wasn’t lost on those who were watching the game.

And it raises a major question about the Texans’ in-game concussion protocol. Remember, the same thing seemed to happen with Savage late last season.

“Initially, the Texans announced that Savage cleared concussion protocol and he even returned to the game on the last play of the first half to take a knee. However, he was reevaluated at halftime and the team ruled him out with a concussion,” an NFL.com story noted back in January.

Then last week, Savage himself had an interesting response when asked if he was checked for a concussion at halftime of Houston’s game against the Tennessee Titans.

“Here’s what Savage said when asked if he was checked for a concussion at halftime: ‘Yeah, I think. I mean, sure. It was quick,'” Savage said, via the Tennessean.

For their part, the Texans have yet to provide an official diagnosis, only noting that Savage was taken to the locker room.

It will be extremely interesting to see what comes of this. But for now, the situation itself seems incredibly fishy.
