Report: Jeff Fisher wants to return, eyeing Browns as possibility

Former Tennessee Titans and St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams head coach Jeff Fisher is like fine wine that was kept in 100 degree weather, only to be uncorked 10 years later. He was very good and well respected to begin with. But more recently, Fisher has been somewhat of a laughingstock.

This has come out in droves during the 2017 season. Following the Rams finishing last year with four wins, the team is 10-4 heading into Week 16 under first-year head coach Sean McVay. It also ranks No. 1 in the league in scoring after finishing dead last in Fisher’s last season.

Despite the recent optics, it sure looks like Fisher is looking to make a return to the NFL in 2018.

As Jurecki notes, Fisher could be eyeing potential head coaching openings in Cleveland, Indianapolis and Chicago.

Speaking of optics, wouldn’t it somehow make all the sense in the world for the Browns to hire a head coach in Fisher who has not posted a winning season in a decade and last led a team to the playoffs in 2008?

The NFL is a fickle business. And while Fisher’s reputation might have taken a hit among fans and media alike, there’s no telling where he stands among organizations around the NFL. If he’s interested in returning to coaching, we wouldn’t be shocked if Fisher legitimately got some interviews.

It’s something to pay attention to as the 2017 NFL season draws to a conclusion and the coaching carousel takes off at warp speed.
