Report: Aaron Rodgers contract extension is Packers’ big offseason priority

Aaron Rodgers

After locking up receiver Davante Adams for the foreseeable future Friday, then signing center Corey Lindsley to a deal Saturday, the Green Bay Packers are setting their sights now on making Aaron Rodgers a very rich man.

Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, the Packers’ most pressing offseason priority is to sign Rodgers to a long-term contract extension.

Rodgers still has two years left on his current deal, but none of the money on those final two seasons is guaranteed. It only stands to reason that his representation has been quietly working behind the scenes to rectify this, especially in light of his most recent injury.

Rodgers is one of the NFL’s elite passers. In his 13-year career, the 34-year-old has set a new NFL benchmark for excellence in terms of touchdowns and interception rates. So far in his career, he’s completed 65.1 percent of his passes for 38,502 yards with 313 touchdowns and just 78 interceptions in 149 games.
