Doug Pederson confirms Carson Wentz out for season with torn ACL

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson confirmed the worst possible news, which is that Carson Wentz tore his ACL on Sunday.

He’ll miss the remainder of the season and will need surgery to repair his left knee.

Wentz injured his knee diving into the end zone when he got sandwiched between two Los Angeles Rams defenders (watch here). However, the Eagles believe his injury occurred right before that hit.

He ended up having his touchdown wiped off the board due to a holding penalty but did throw a touchdown before exiting the game for good. He finished the game with 291 yards and four touchdowns passing, and the Eagles clinched the NFC East with the 43-35 win over Los Angeles.

Wentz finishes the season with 3,296 yards, 33 touchdowns and just seven interceptions. He was a legitimate MVP candidate all year and was a huge reason why the Eagles have lost only two games.

Nick Foles will now be the starter for the Eagles going forward.
