Bills place both Jordan Matthews and Shaq Lawson on IR

As the Buffalo Bills look to sneak into the playoffs for the first time since 1999, the team will have to play the final quarter of the season without two under-performing players.

Buffalo announced on Tuesday that wide receiver Jordan Matthews (knee) and pass rusher Shaq Lawson (ankle) have been placed on season-ending injured reserve.

Matthews, acquired from Buffalo during the summer, had been playing through a knee injury. His overall performance this season has been lackluster, which could have something to do with the injury. In 10 games, Matthews has recorded 25 receptions for 282 yards and a touchdown.

On the other hand, Lawson simply has not been able to stay healthy since Buffalo made him a first-round pick back in 2016. He played in just 10 games a rookie, recording two sacks in the process. This season, the youngster has put up four sacks in 11 games.

Buffalo currently sits at 6-6 on the season and one game behind Baltimore for the final wildcard spot in the AFC.
