Bill Belichick apologized to Sean McDermott for dirty Rob Gronkowski hit

Following Sunday’s win over the Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick was not happy about a hit that tight end Rob Gronkowski laid on Tredavious White.

In his postgame handshake with Buffalo coach Sean McDermott, Belichick apologized for the hit, calling it b***s***. You can see the exchange here.

According to Fox Sports’ Dean Blandino, Gronk should have been ejected.

For his part, Gronkowski apologized for the hit after the game. But the apology didn’t mean much to Buffalo defensive back Micah Hyde.

“It was a dirty play, apology or not,” Hyde said, per Mike Rodak of ESPN. “We’ll see him again in a few weeks. You guys will make this a story. I’ve been a part of plenty of games, whatever sport it might be. There’s been dirty plays. Just got to put it past you.”

Certainly, the Week 16 rematch between these two teams just got a lot more interesting. The league office will certainly have something to say about the entire sequence, including Gronk’s hit.
