Mark Richt: Malik Rosier is Miami’s starter going forward

Mark Richt benched starting quarterback Malik Rosier during Friday’s big upset loss to Pittsburgh, but it’s not a permanent thing.

Rosier was inserted into the game after his backup Evan Shirreffs went three-and-out, and he’ll continue to be the starter going forward.

Rosier had an awful game. Really, it was the worst game of his season on many levels. He did throw two touchdowns but also connected on just 15-of-34 passes for 187 yards.

His inaccuracy, combined with a total collapse of the team’s rushing attack, was a big reason why the Hurricanes enter the ACC Championship with a blemish on their record. It’s also a big reason why they’ll certainly fall outside the top four when the CFP rankings are release on Tuesday heading into championship weekend.

However, if he and the ‘Canes an bounce back and take down Clemson, then perhaps the playoff is still within reach.
