Ezekiel Elliott suspension back on, court rules with the NFL

Dallas Cowboys running back against the 49ers in NFL Week 7

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott’s six-game suspension is back on after the Second Circuit Court in New York ruled in favor of the NFL on Thursday.

Elliott was seeking an immediate injunction to temporarily overturn said suspension until further arguments could be heard. That was obviously denied by the court on Thursday.

Barring another ruling in a separate court between now and Sunday, Elliott will have to start serving his suspension Sunday afternoon against the Atlanta Falcons. If this holds up, he would not be able to return to the field until Week 16 against the Seattle Seahawks.

Needless to say, this would be an absolutely huge blow to the Cowboys’ playoff chances. They currently sit at 5-3 on the season and have won three consecutive games. Elliott has put up nearly 1,000 total yards and nine scores in eight games this season.

We’ll have further updates as they become available.
