49ers’ Pierre Garcon done for the season with neck injury

If Jimmy Garoppolo does indeed take the field for the San Francisco 49ers this season, he will have to do so without the team’s No. 1 wide receiver.

49ers general manager John Lynch told the media on Thursday evening that Pierre Garcon will be lost for the remainder of the season with a neck injury.

Garcon suffered the injury last week against Philadelphia and had to be removed from the game. He was previously listed as questionable prior to Lynch breaking this news.

It’s a major blow for a still winless 49ers team. Garcon currently leads the team in receptions (40) and receiving yards (500).

He joins fellow starters Tank Carradine, Josh Garnett, Malcolm Smith, Arik Armstead and Jimmie Ward on injured reserve for the downtrodden team. Ouch.
