Texans’ DeAndre Hopkins has mighty high praise for Deshaun Watson

Deshaun Watson

The Houston Texans’ offense is on absolute fire right now. After dropping 33 on the hapless Cleveland Browns Sunday, the Texans are averaging nearly 40 points per game in their past four outings.

That very same span has seen rookie quarterback Deshaun Watson tally 15 total touchdowns compared to just four interceptions. Coming off a history-making performance of his own, Watson is now drawing rave reviews from star receiver DeAndre Hopkins.

“Every time we step on the field, we want to score,” Hopkins said, via the Houston Chronicle. “If we don’t, we’re disappointed. We don’t settle for three. We know with the ball in No. 4’s hands, anything’s possible.”

It’s amazing what a little bit of offensive success can do for a receiver. With the likes of Tom Savage and Brock Osweiler tossing him the rock last season, Hopkins was all out of sorts. Now, through the first six games of the 2017 campaign, he leads NFL receivers with six touchdown catches.

Interestingly enough, Hopkins has taken on somewhat of a secondary role since second-year receiver Will Fuller returned from injury. He’s caught just 6-of-16 targets for 71 yards over the past two games. Fuller has put up 119 yards and three scores during that span

Even then, it seems that Hopkins is not too worried about his lack of individual success. He’s seeing a rookie quarterback dominate unlike anything we’ve witnessed from a first-year player at that position in recent NFL history. In this, everything seems to be golden for Hopkins and his green young signal caller.
