Sam Bradford did not practice again Friday: ‘Longshot’ to play Sunday

Sam Bradford

Sam Bradford missed practice Thursday and was deemed unlikely to play Sunday against the Green Bay Packers. The quarterback was once again absent from Minnesota Vikings practice on Friday and is now even more unlikely to play Sunday with the knee injury that’s plagued him since Week 1.

“Bradford, who was pulled from Monday night’s game after re-aggravating his injured left knee, appears to be a longshot to play Sunday against the Packers after sitting out a consecutive day,” wrote Andrew Krammer of the Star Tribune.

This is the same left knee that Bradford has had surgically repaired twice before. He had an MRI after Monday night’s game, but thankfully it showed no structural damage, or any new damage at all. The real issue here is that it’s an injury that might not be 100 percent until after the season, per Bradford himself.

In the meantime, Teddy Bridgewater will be tested Monday to see if he’s healthy enough to begin practicing. If so, then he’ll be given a three-week window to determine if he’ll be activated or remain on the shelf the rest of the season.

Assuming Bradford remains out of the lineup (he really should not play if Monday was any barometer), then it’ll be the Case Keenum show once again for Minnesota’s offense. He’s been serviceable at worst, and pretty darn good a couple of times. The Vikings will probably the pretty darn good version of Keenum to beat the Packers this weekend.
