Report: Myles Garrett in concussion protocol

Myles Garrett, suspension

Not even the good things are going right for the Cleveland Browns. The team just placed Myles Garrett in concussion protocol.

Zac Jackson of The Athletic shared the update, and Scott Petrak of the Chronicle-Telegram reported the defensive end “came in Tuesday with symptoms.”

Concussions are always a concern and could keep players sidelined, but it’s especially problematic for the Browns because they’re heading to London for their Week 8 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. Garrett might not even be allowed to travel with the team.

If he’s unavailable for the contest, the Browns will be without the league’s most efficient edge-rusher. According to Matt Harmon of NFL Media, among players with at least 40 pass rushes, Garrett leads the NFL with a 19.4 pressure rate.

Since making his professional debut in Week 5, Garrett has posted 11 tackles with four sacks — notching at least one in each game.

The Browns already know they’re not going to have left tackle Joe Thomas, who had logged 10,363 consecutive snaps before a triceps injury ended his streak. And now with Garrett in the concussion protocol, it appears Cleveland will be down its two best players in London.
