Report: Jameis Winston suffered sprain in throwing shoulder

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Jameis Winston NFL quarterbacks

When Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston exited Sunday’s game against the Cardinals in the first half with a shoulder injury, fans feared it might have been a serious injury.

Winston would ultimately sit the remainder of the game, watching veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick nearly pull off a epic comeback against Arizona.

Fortunately for the Buccaneers and their prized young quarterback, it looks like he’s not going to have to watch from the sideline much longer.

According to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, an MRI confirmed that Winston suffered an AC joint sprain in his throwing shoulder. It’s something he could potentially play through.

That sound you hear is a collective sigh of relief from fans in Tampa Bay. Sure Winston continues to be inconsistent under center, but he still provides Tampa with the best opportunity to succeed. At 2-3 on the season and with a bottom-10 defense, the Buccaneers need the dynamic presence Winston brings under center.

It’s not yet known if Winston will in fact miss any time. The Bucs take on a surprising Bills squad in Western New York next week. They can’t afford to fall two games under .500. So if there’s a chance Winston can play, he’ll likely be on the field.
