Bay Area teams pledge $450,000 for fire relief efforts

The Northern California region is currently burning out of control with dozens of fires sweeping across Sonoma, Napa and Solano Counties, just north of where multiple professional sports teams set up shop.

Like we’ve seen around the sports world, more so this year than in the past, these teams are taking it upon themselves to help their communities.

In the Bay Area, that means six different organizations have pledged to donate $450,000 for fire relief efforts. This list includes the NFL’s Oakland Raiders and San Francisco 49ers, MLB’s Oakland Athletics and San Francisco Giants, NBA’s Golden State Warriors and the San Jose Earthquakes of MLS.

These organizations have also set up a You Caring page titled, Bay Area Unite, to help with the donations.

According to the Los Angeles Times, 21 people have died as a result of the fires that are still burning out of control and have already torched 3,500 structures and 160,000 acres of land.
