Baker Mayfield

The Red River Showdown this upcoming Saturday between Oklahoma and Texas is already off to an interesting start, thanks to Baker Mayfield. The senior Sooners quarterback, who must still be salty after watching Iowa State plant a flag at midfield in Norman this past weekend, issued a juvenile burn towards Sam Ehlinger, a quarterback of the Longhorns.

Westlake and Lake Travis are natural rivals as the two big high schools in Austin, Texas. Lake Travis has won its last nine games against Westlake, and Mayfield was a part of that. He also led Lake Travis to a Texas state title in 2011. Ehlinger led Westlake to the title game two years ago but did not win the big game.

Barring an unforeseen event like Shane Buechele surprisingly getting the start, these two quarterbacks will lock horns on the field at the Cotton Bowl Saturday afternoon in Dallas, Texas.
