Report: Bills give RB LeSean McCoy a raise

LeSean McCoy

The Buffalo Bills have been making the news for all the wrong reasons this summer. The team traded No. 1 receiver Sammy Watkins earlier in the summer, saw Anquan Boldin retire after just a couple weeks from the season and had to deal with an off-field incident surrounding star defensive tackle Marcell Dareus.

Needless to say, it has not been smooth sailing for a team that has not earned a playoff trip since 1999.

Though, as the Bills prepare for their Week 1 game against the New York Jets, they have apparently handed Pro Bowl running back LeSean McCoy a pretty sweet little raise.

We’re not 100 percent sure where this came from. What we do know is that McCoy had been the subject of trade rumors last month — rumors the Bills themselves flatly denied. Maybe this is Buffalo’s way of proving to McCoy that it is committed to him.

McCoy, 29, is coming off a 2016 campaign that saw him put up north of 1,600 yards with 14 touchdowns en route to earning his fourth consecutive trip to the Pro Bowl. The running back was previously set to count $8.9 million against the cap in 2017.
