Mark Cuban loans team plane to player for help in Puerto Rico recovery efforts

Mark Cuban

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban is nothing if not aware of what’s happening in the world today.

The always outspoken and sometimes controversial billionaire loaned his team’s plane to player J.J. Barea to fly supplies to Puerto Rico to help in the recovery efforts stemming from the devastating Hurricane Mara earlier this month.

Almost a week after the storm made landfall in the American territory, Puerto Rico itself remains fully without power. It’s a devastation unlike anything we have seen in the United States in the modern times.

“Gov. Ricardo Rosselló said the island faces a humanitarian crisis,” CNN reported on Tuesday. “He urged Congress to approve a commensurate aid package as the US commonwealth, already hammered by a prolonged economic crisis, tries to get back on its feet.”

If nothing else, this one act of altruism from the Dallas Mavericks’ owner and one of his veteran players could help some start to recover from what has been a disastrous experience in the island region.

Cuban, with a net worth of $3.3 billion, has continued to help in communities around the United States. This is most definitely the latest example.
