Ezekiel Elliott on lack of effort: ‘I was just very frustrated’

Ezekiel Elliott of the Dallas Cowboys

During last week’s blowout loss to the Denver Broncos, star Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott received flack for a lack of effort on multiple plays.

One such instance stands out the most, with Elliott failing to even attempt to track down a Broncos player following a Dak Prescott interception. It’s a situation Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett has indicated the team addressed following the game.

Now, for the first time since the incident, Elliott himself has opened up.

“I was just very frustrated, but that’s no excuse for the lack of effort I showed on tape,” Elliott said, via NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.

It’s been a major talking point around the NFL after Dallas fell to Denver by the score of 42-17 in Week 2.

One lackluster performance doesn’t diminish the fact that Elliott has been a dominating figure for the Cowboys since entering the league last season.

And while he continues to go through a court battle regarding a six-game suspension the league handed down to the running back, Elliott will be on the field Monday against the Arizona Cardinals. We can expect a better effort and a much better performance in this one.
