New York Giants receiver Sterling Shepard was carted off the practice field Wednesday after suffering a leg injury, and he was reportedly in tears.

While we don’t yet know the extent of Shepard’s injury, the fact he had to be carted off is a bad sign of a potentially big-time injury.
Last season as a second-round rookie out of Oklahoma, Shepard was a pleasant surprise. He caught 65 passes for 683 yards and eight touchdowns as the secondary target to Odell Beckham Jr.
If Shepard suffered a significant injury, then Brandon Marshall’s signing looks all the smarter. The veteran was expected to be a solid third option when he signed following his release with the New York Jets but would certainly be effective as the No. 2 as well.
