Nolan Arenado is obviously the Rockies' best player.

The Colorado Rockies entered Sunday’s action with a 65-51 mark and tied for the top wild card spot in the National League. Their surprising performance this season can primarily be attributed to an MVP-caliber performance from third baseman Nolan Arenado.

Unfortunately, it now appears that Arenado suffered a serious injury after being hit on the hand by Marlins pitcher Vance Worley in the fifth inning of Sunday’s game.

As you can see, Arenado was in a ton of pain after being hit on the hand. He was immediately pulled from the game.

It’s obviously too early to come to a conclusion on the severity of the injury, but it most definitely did not look good.

Arenado, 26, entered Sunday’s action with a .313 average to go with 26 homers and an NL-leading 100 RBI. This comes on the heels of him driving in 130-plus runs in each of the past two seasons. If this is a long-term injury, it will be a major blow to a Rockies team that’s trying to gain home-field advantage against Arizona in what will likely be a one-game wild card set between the two National League West rivals.
