The Seattle Seahawks got some bad news on Sunday. Malik McDowell — the team’s first pick of the 2017 NFL Draft — was in an accident and could miss the entire season.
The team released a statement with the news.

Last year was a down year for McDowell, who was a star for Michigan State. However, one of the true physical freaks of the draft, the defensive tackle was coveted for his athleticism. Some teams were concerned about his motor, but Seattle obviously felt comfortable enough to make him their first selection.
McDowell was selected with the No. 35 overall in the draft. While the injury might cost McDowell his season, the good news is that it doesn’t seem to be more serious than that.
