Report: Dodgers interested in Mets RP Addison Reed

The Dodgers are interested in Addison Reed.

Despite proving themselves to be the best team in the National League, the Los Angeles Dodgers are always looking for upgrades. The team has been linked primarily to starting pitchers leading up to the July 31st trade deadline.

But Los Angeles is now reportedly looking into the viability of landing New York Mets closer Addison Reed.

Reed, 28, is set to become a free agent following the 2017 season. That has led to increased speculation that he might be moved.

The veteran is having a tremendous season thus far, pitching to a 2.35 ERA and 1.07 WHIP for the Mets. That comes on the heels of a 2016 campaign that saw him boast a 1.97/0.94 split.

Currently sitting at 66-31 on the season, Los Angeles has been relying on Kenley Jansen and his dominating stuff to close out games. If the team were to land Reed, he’d immediately take over as the primary set-up man.

It’s a scenario that would help the Dodgers’ rotation without adding a starter. The idea would be to further shorten games with Jansen, Reed and Pedro Baez forming a dominating trio in the pen.
