Derek Jeter’s bid to buy Marlins takes major hit

In its bid to buy the Miami Marlins from Jeffrey Loria, a group that includes New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter has lost one key member.

The report did note that Bruce Sherman, another member of the group, “is picking up some of the slack” left behind by Chaifetz’s departure.

We’re likely to soon find out if Jeter’s group has enough money.

In late June, it was reported that MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred wants the sale done by the All-Star Game on July 11, so as not to skew the coverage of the game that the Marlins are hosting.
