The Dallas Mavericks honored former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo ahead of Tuesday’s game agains the Denver Nuggets.
Romo warmed up with the team, got a loud pregame introduction and was honored by Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki before briefly addressing the crowd himself.

“We’re going to make the Nuggets wait another 10 minutes; sorry,” Romo joked. “Thank you, guys, this is an honor that I could never dream of. It’s a little embarrassing. But, I tell you what — I’m a very lucky guy. Thank you, Dallas. I love you.”
Romo’s jerseys are also a popular item at Dallas’ American Airlines Center.
Given the success of this night, it’s a pretty good bet that other teams will follow the Mavericks lead by honoring local legends in the future.
